# Venues and markets

> Choose the correct venue and market identifier for each leg.

`longVenue` and `shortVenue` must be different. Supported values are `aster`, `hl`, `lighter` (Robinhood Lighter), and `lighter-mainnet` (canonical Lighter). The API key must allow both venues.

Each market field uses the identifier for **its own leg's venue**. These examples show the required spelling; listing and tradability can change, so check the Strategy page's current markets before creating a task.

Keep Hyperliquid builder prefixes lowercase (`xyz:`, `io:`) and Aster quote prefixes uppercase (`USD1:`, `U:`, `USDT:`). The API rejects lowercase base symbols and incorrectly cased prefixes. For the same ANTH asset, a Hyperliquid leg uses `io:ANTH` while a Robinhood Lighter leg uses `ANTHROPIC`. `xyz` and `io` are parts of a Hyperliquid market name, not separate venue values. The API checks each market against a cached public venue catalog (refreshed every 5 minutes). Hyperliquid core and builder dex catalogs are independent. Lighter markets must be active perps with a positive mark price. An unlisted market returns `400 market_not_listed`; an unavailable or stale catalog returns `503 market_catalog_unavailable`. Listing at submission time does not guarantee a later fill.
